Caesarpress is a small & independent publishing house in Vienna, Austria. Our mission is to produce & distribute high-class academic titles from the social sciences & humanities.
Whether it's paperbound, hardcover or digital editions, we ensure that your content meets the right context.
We want to take pride in our authors and our own work. That's why everything we create is executed with dedication, precision — and .
High setup costs, long production periods, bad service & marginal (if any) author royalties. Does this sound familiar? Not with us. Our aim is to make academic publishing enjoyable again. Here is how we do it:
A network of production and distribution partners in the US, UK and Australia allows cost-efficient production, fast delivery and short transportation. That's good for nature, too.
Never mind the size of your readership. Due to state-of-the-art production it doesn't matter if 50.000 or only 5 copies of your titles are sold. We are interested in quality, not pulp fiction.
No limited print runs due to tight budgets, scarce storage capacities or high demand. Your books are available as long as they are listed in our and our distributor's catalogues.
Every author is unique, and so should be his/her publications. That's why WE create every layout to fit the topic while you can concentrate on what you do best: writing fabulous manuscripts.
From the initial quote to author royalties: all cards are on the table, right from the outset. No hidden costs, no jungle of regulations. Let's concentrate on making beautiful publications instead.
Our "max. 3 projects at the same time" policy guarantees an open ear for your concerns, a fast production process – and minimal constraints for our creativity.
The socio-religio-political situation in Indonesia and other Muslim-majority countries of Southeast Asia is very complex. Official and societal pressures have pushed the mainstream Islamic discourse from moderation towards unprecedented orthodoxy. This edited volume seeks to cast some light on the general overall process of Islamization that actually started more than half a millennium ago, and aims in eight individual chapters to explore some forms of Islam that currently exist in Southeast Asia, putting a special focus on those that are mainly positioned on the fringe – outside the mainstream.
“Built from serious, long-term engagement with the religious communities on the ground in Southeast Asia, these studies bring to light Islamic communities that have not been fully understood. The authors use a wide variety of methods to approach groups that need more attention. This volume pushes the boundaries of our knowledge of the diversity – in outlook, experience, and aspiration – of the region’s Muslims.”
— Dr. Kevin W. Fogg, Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
